Adult Sewing Class: Machine Basics — Summer Shorts

This relaxed, hands-on class is designed for adults who are new to sewing machines, returning after a long break, or wanting to build confidence with the basics.

You’ll learn how to use a sewing machine while making a wearable pair of easy-fit summer shorts. We’ll cover essential skills such as threading, stitch selection, seam construction, pressing, and finishing techniques — all at a comfortable pace, with plenty of guidance.

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a completed pair of shorts and the confidence to continue sewing at home.

Your Teacher

Jane is a qualified teacher and experienced sewing business owner, with a natural ability to support learners as they build confidence and independence. Her love of sewing began when her grandmother taught her as a young girl—sparking a passion that has grown for over 30 years.

With a long-held dream finally realised, Jane founded her sewing school to inspire the next generation of makers. Her classes are thoughtfully paced, encouraging and designed to help learners feel proud of what they create.

Where?

Classes are held at a local sewing studio at 314A Oxley Road, Graceville. Jane will be taking over this space at the end of December, transforming it into a cosy, creative studio designed especially for sewing classes.

Cancellation & Make-Up Policy

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you are unable to attend a class, a make-up session can be arranged; however, refunds are not available for missed classes.

If a class needs to be cancelled by Jane for any reason, you’ll be offered either a make-up class or a prorated refund—whichever suits you best.
