Class Description

The Fashion Design Series is designed for students aged 8 years and up who are ready to take their sewing skills to the next level and explore the exciting world of fashion design. This series is ideal for children who have sewn before or have some familiarity with a sewing machine and are eager to build their skills through more creative, design-focused projects.

Working in a small, supportive class environment capped at eight students, participants will learn how to plan, design and construct their own sewing projects. Along the way, they’ll develop a deeper understanding of fabrics, simple pattern use, construction techniques and how garments or accessories come together.

Students will be encouraged to experiment with colour, texture and personal style, while building confidence with their sewing machine and developing independence as makers. Each class focuses on practical skill-building while allowing space for creativity and self-expression.

All materials are provided, and students will leave with projects they’ve designed and sewn themselves.

Your Teacher

Jane is a qualified teacher and experienced sewing business owner, with a natural ability to support young learners as they build confidence and independence. Her love of sewing began when her grandmother taught her as a young girl—sparking a passion that has grown for over 30 years.

With a long-held dream finally realised, Jane founded her sewing school to inspire the next generation of makers. Her classes are thoughtfully paced, encouraging and designed to help children feel proud of what they create while developing real sewing skills.

Where?

Classes are held at a local sewing studio at 314A Oxley Road, Graceville. The studio is conveniently located near cafés and parks. A bench is available outside for parents who wish to stay nearby, though many children enjoy the independence of having their own creative space during class.

Cancellation & Make-Up Policy

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If your child is unable to attend a class, a make-up session can be arranged; however, refunds are not available for missed classes.

If a class needs to be cancelled by Jane for any reason, you’ll be offered either a make-up class or a prorated refund—whichever suits you best.
